After studying them in detail\, Sumner captures their unique qualities to bring them to life on the surface of the paper or canvas. While the artist focuses on birds\, he loves to paint other wild animals\, as well. Carefully taking into account the detail of his subjects’ coloration\, bone structure\, texture of the fur or feathers\, these paintings bring out each creature’s personality. The proud bird profiled in “California Quail” locks eyes with the viewer with its “take no prisoners” attitude. “I love to break out the paint brushes when blessed with such charming\, vibrant subjects – they are a joy to paint and I hope they bring a smile to the viewer\,” said Sumner. \nBorn and raised in Northern California\, Sumner began his art training in highschool and earned a BFA from the CA College of Arts and Crafts. Kennedy is part of the permanent collection of the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston. The proud bird profiled in “California Quail” locks eyes with the viewer with its “take no prisoners” attitude. “I love to break out the paint brushes when blessed with such charming\, vibrant subjects – they are a joy to paint and I hope they bring a smile to the viewer\,” said Sumner. \nBorn and raised in Northern California\, Sumner began his art training in highschool and earned a BFA from the CA College of Arts and Crafts. Before focusing full-time on fine art\, Sumner was a technical illustrator for a number of years. An award-winning artist\, his portrait of John F. Kennedy is part of the permanent collection of the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston.
