Subject matter can be a landscape\, a still life\, or even a fantasy scene… whatever moves you to want to create it in fabric. You will start with a photo of your chosen scene for inspiration and beyond that your own imagination is the limit. (One caution though… for beginners it is smart to avoid subjects that include complicated architecture such as houses or bridges. You will get frustrated trying to get the perspective and details “right.” It will be more fun to stick to nature scenes\, where nothing you do can possibly be “wrong.”) \n☑️ Events may require Reservations or have COVID restrictions. Join HCA?s Teen/Tween Studio art program for skill-based art making and hands-on projects and activities in ongoing 6-week sessions. Whether students are learning a new art practice or developing their technical and conceptual skills\, they explore a variety of visual art media\, experiment with techniques and materials\, and dive deep into the creative process. This first 6-week session will focus on painting and drawing in a studio setting. We will cover a range of disciplines from figure drawing in charcoal to simple still life in pastel to landscape painting in gouache to self-portraits in acrylic. As we mix it up\, students are introduced to diverse art making practices\, ideas as well as contemporary and historical masters. Our artists/instructors are experienced art educators who will rotate based on the specific discipline being offered in any one of our 6-week sessions. Join HCA?s Teen/Tween Studio art program for skill-based art making and hands-on projects and activities in ongoing 6-week sessions. Whether students are learning a new art practice or developing their technical and conceptual skills\, they explore a variety of visual art media\, experiment with techniques and materials\, and dive deep into the creative process. This first 6-week session will focus on painting and drawing in a studio setting. We will cover a range of disciplines from figure drawing in charcoal to simple still life in pastel to landscape painting in gouache to self-portraits in acrylic. As we mix it up\, students are introduced to diverse art making practices\, ideas as well as contemporary and historical masters. Our artists/instructors are experienced art educators who will rotate based on the specific discipline being offered in any one of our 6-week sessions. Students will gain insight on how bookmaking projects can be reproduced using materials and tools that are commonly found around the home and/or are reasonably easy to obtain. \n* NOTES FROM BOOK ARTS ROADSHOW: \nSpecial Bookmaking Workshops and Special Gift-Making Workshops are recommended for those who have taken at least one Bookmaking Workshop with Book Arts Roadshow previously or have some prior paper crafting or bookmaking experience. \nBookmaking Exploration classes (Book Set E thru Book Set H) are recommended for those who have taken at least one Bookmaking Workshop with Book Arts Roadshow previously or have some prior paper crafting or bookmaking experience. \nBookmaking Workshops (Book Set A thru Book Set D) are recommended for bookmaking beginners. No experience is necessary. \nMATERIALS \nBookmaking materials for this workshop will be shipped to all enrolled students prior to the first session.
