Students at any level will gain practical knowledge about watercolor paint\, paper\, brushes and other supplies while learning the basics of composition\, colors\, light and shadow and more. Judson will offer short demos and easy subject materials to help students get acquainted with and practice watercolor’s unique properties. Students will have the opportunity to advance by learning to copy master paintings. This practice has been used to hone artist’s skills for centuries\, and is an exercise that helps students no matter their level of experience. It also provides a comfortable exercise for anyone’s very first effort with watercolor. Students at any level will gain practical knowledge about watercolor paint\, paper\, brushes and other supplies while learning the basics of composition\, colors\, light and shadow and more. Judson will offer short demos and easy subject materials to help students get acquainted with and practice watercolor’s unique properties. Students will have the opportunity to advance by learning to copy master paintings. This practice has been used to hone artist’s skills for centuries\, and is an exercise that helps students no matter their level of experience. It also provides a comfortable exercise for anyone’s very first effort with watercolor. DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nTeen & Tween Studio: Painting & Drawing\nThis class is limited to 8 students. Join HCA?s Teen/Tween Studio art program for skill-based art making and hands-on projects and activities in ongoing 6-week sessions. Whether students are learning a new art practice or developing their technical and conceptual skills\, they explore a variety of visual art media\, experiment with techniques and materials\, and dive deep into the creative process. This first 6-week session will focus on painting and drawing in a studio setting. We will cover a range of disciplines from figure drawing in charcoal to simple still life in pastel to landscape painting in gouache to self-portraits in acrylic. As we mix it up\, students are introduced to diverse art making practices\, ideas as well as contemporary and historical masters. Our artists/instructors are experienced art educators who will rotate based on the specific discipline being offered in any one of our 6-week sessions. Join HCA?s Teen/Tween Studio art program for skill-based art making and hands-on projects and activities in ongoing 6-week sessions. Whether students are learning a new art practice or developing their technical and conceptual skills\, they explore a variety of visual art media\, experiment with techniques and materials\, and dive deep into the creative process. This first 6-week session will focus on painting and drawing in a studio setting. We will cover a range of disciplines from figure drawing in charcoal to simple still life in pastel to landscape painting in gouache to self-portraits in acrylic. As we mix it up\, students are introduced to diverse art making practices\, ideas as well as contemporary and historical masters. Our artists/instructors are experienced art educators who will rotate based on the specific discipline being offered in any one of our 6-week sessions. She will introduce her process while utilizing the classic watercolor method for creating a realistic still-life painting. With step-by-step\, easy-to-follow demonstrations each day\, students will learn a wide variety of techniques including paintbrush usage\, color mixing\, color application\, and how to find their own unique style.
