Fred Furth was piloting his small aircraft over the Russian River one fine spring day in 1972, when looking down he saw the formation of a natural amphitheater impressed into the land, and instinctively knew that a world-class vineyard awaited him there. Soon thereafter treading, touching, and getting a feel for the actual land itself confirmed what his heart told him. This was a place of world-class grapes.
There is a casual luxury to the wine country life that Sonoma County brings and no vineyard estate brings this to its fullness like Chalk Hill. Its sprawling 1,300-acre vineyard, wildlife preserve, Welcoming Center, stables and Equestrian Pavilion, culinary garden, fishing and swimming ponds attest to the fact that this is truly a special place, where special wine flows.

Chalk Hill is a very upscale wine tasting experience, with an elegant one table dining room adjacent to its tasting room and the lovely terrace out front with nice views and comfortable chairs and umbrellas.
