Healdsburg Wineries

Ridge Vineyards
Begun in 1885, when Osea Perrone purchased 180 acres near the top of Monte Bello Ridge. A doctor and prominent member of San Francisco’s Italian community, Dr. Perrone used native limestone to construct what at that time was the Monte Bello winery. This beautiful and unique structure, which is built on three sides into the mountainside, is Ridge Vineyards production facility today.
This vineyard has a storied history, that ranges through multiple owners and eras, times of depression and abundance, and through it all has always produced fine and exceptional prize-winning wines. Today it produces Cabernet, Syrah, Petit Sirah, Zinfandel, Grenache, and Carignane wines. Ridge Vineyards depends on the depth of well-known traditional methods sown from antiquity in producing their wines, as opposed to the sterile modern methods that seem to steal from the grape.
Ridge Vineyards provides tours of its winery and has a long section adjacent to its tasting room, from which you can look out over the vineyard into the mountains in the distance.
