Playing The Dead – Tuesday Plaza Concerts

Rooted in a deep, authentic reverence for the Grateful Dead catalog, Playing The Dead captures the true, living spirit of the ultimate jam band experience. Rather than just offering a rigid, note-for-note copy of the studio tracks, this talented collective of seasoned musicians leans honestly into the element that made the Grateful Dead a phenomenon: fearless improvisation. With an expansive repertoire that spans the Dead’s vast catalog—alongside nods to Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan, and the Allman Brothers—every single show features completely unique, unpredictable setlists and seamless, organic transitions. While they don’t look like clones of the original band, they channel the exact countercultural ethos, rich psychedelic textures, and heartfelt Americana that fans crave.

HiH Hint: You can reserve your spot by setting out chairs after 4pm. Bring a jacket and a hat, because once the sun ducks behind the buildings along Healdsburg Avenue the temperature drops faster than a rap artist’s mic. Oh yeah, ear plugs may be handy to have around. Food is always nearby. Clean bathrooms are a half-block away at the Healdsburg Police Department (238 Center Street), and if you have trouble finding it just cause a ruckus and nice police officers will personally escort you there.
