[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]White Oak Vineyards was founded in 1981. Originally from Los Angeles, its founder Bill Myers worked as a salmon fisherman in Alaska. In the late 1970s Bill relinquished his boat and relocated to Healdsburg, where he began work after purchasing his first vineyard and huddled with local winemakers to learn their winemaking secrets. From his newly purchased vineyard Bill started making wines under the consultation of highly respected winemakers like Marianne Graf. His Sauvignon Blanc became quickly recognized for its quality, clarity, and stellar taste.

The flagship offering has always been their Chardonnay, although they produce Zinfandel as well. 17-acre estate has old Vine Zinfandel which dates back to 1928 and 1935. The vineyard has picnic grounds, beautiful event landscapes, and a lovely three-story tasting room.

If you see a man who looks like he was once a sailor, sitting alone sipping wine at White Oak Vineyards, then you’re very likely looking at Bill Myers, owner of White Oak. Bill says he stopped traveling the world because he ran out of places to visit. Originally from Alaska, he owns a 50-foot fishing boat moored there, and has owned White Oak for over 30 years. Bill also makes “live edge” exposed wood tables. In fact, some of the bars in his winery are his own works. He also made the bar in the tasting room, which is covered in a unique brass metal which prevents accidental breaking of glasses. Bill is a very knowledgeable man, with many stories to share with you.

White Oak Vineyards is a three-story tasting room, with a nice balcony overlooking the vineyards, and its exceptional fountain situated between its building and parking lot. They also have an exceptional Rosé that they only make available during the summer months. This Rosé has one of the lightest, and most gently lingering aftertastes of any wine you may ever try.
