The Kendall-Jackson winery story began in 1974, when Jess Jackson purchased a walnut and pear orchard in Lake County and replanted it’s 80-acre parcel in Chardonnay grapes. However, everything changed in 1983 when Jess’ Vintners Reserve Chardonnay rose to the first ever platinum medal for an American-made Chardonnay. This is when Kendall-Jackson’s meteoric rise truly began.

By the early 1980s, Kendall-Jackson’s Vintners Reserve Chardonnay had become a favorite at the White House, due to Nancy Reagan’s love of this delicious California wine. Soon the wine became known as “Nancy’s wine”.

Throughout the late 1990s Kendall Jackson’s Chardonnay became the number one Chardonnay in America, which it remains to this day. In 1996 Kendall-Jackson opened Château de Baun in Sonoma County. This location is known not only for its outstanding wines, but also for its culinary expertise and is a favorite among Sonoma tourists.

When you stop you may meet Angela, the tasting room hostess, who can share all the finer details of their chocolate, food, and cheese pairings. You may also meet MasterChef Matthew Lowe, or some of the other wonderful staff that make Kendall Jackson’s culinary experience among the finest in Sonoma County.
