Healdsburg Wineries

Rued Winery
The Rued family has been in the wine industry for six generations in Sonoma County. In 1953 Richard Rued began tending the 160 acres of family vineyards. The vineyard’s history goes back to 1876, when Henry, the family’s great grandfather, migrated from Switzerland to the United States and found his way to the Napa Valley region, where he began to work for the Beringer Brothers vineyard. He began planting his own vineyard in 1882 along the Russian River Valley. In 1905 his son, also Henry, purchased a ranch in Alexander Valley.
During prohibition the family raised pears, prunes and apples and maintain their strong connection to the land. After prohibition they returned to winemaking, and have continued to make exceptional wines through the family’s generations unto this day.
Ruined Vineyards also has a well-shaded patio area with both picnic and standard tables. There are good ground-level views with mountains in the background.
