Swimming at Russian River
Enjoy a Great Day at the Beach right here in town! Gooid parking, sandy beaches, ands three swimming sections – one for infants, one for children, and one for adults – all supervised by certified life guards. Sun, fun, and warm weather awaits!!
Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach – 13839 Old Redwood Highway, Healdsburg
Swim, wade, and splash in the Russian River on this great sandy beach. The swimming area (created by a temporary dam) will be open July 1 to Labor Day. This recreation park, which opens at 7:00AM, has lifeguards, areas for picnics, clean restrooms, volleyball and BBQ pits. It closes a half hour before sunset. Arrive early on weekends, because the parking lot can be full by mid-day. No alcohol is permitted on the beach.
Del Rio Woods – 2668 S. Fitch Mountain Road, Healdsburg
The Del Rio Woods beach is just east of Healdsburg, close to Fitch Mountain. Always an attraction to this beach by locals, as there’s plenty of wildlife, bird watching or fishing to be enjoyed. In Summer, you can swim, lollygag on a floatie, enjoy a blanket lunch or just bask in sunshine. There are steps down to the beach (which is gravel, not sand) and picnic tables typically available (bring a small towel to wet and clean your table).
The Russian River is a good time no matter where you find yourself enjoying it. There’s even kayak rentals available at various locations along the river.
But to be candid, nothing beats floating along in an innertube or air mattress with the warm summer sun melting all your cares away…
