5 Best Dog Friendly Wineries in Healdsburg
There are ‘dog-friendly’ wineries… and then there’s, “Our winery’s greeter is a dog.” Guess which ones are most dog friendly.
The 5 Best Dog Friendly Wineries in Healdsburg are Blanchard Family Wines, Amista Vineyards, Merriam Vineyards, Thomas George Estates, and Trione Vineyards. Each winery has its very own wonderful ‘winery dog’ for your puppy to play with.
After all, why not have a cute pup for your frisky friend to pal around with and show ‘em the ropes, while you enjoy some exquisite wines? They can be sniffin’ around together while you and your pack of pals savor the scents of some of Sonoma County’s tastiest varietals and vintages. Now that’s dog friendly!
Always let these wineries know your star attraction is coming along with. That way they can ensure their winery’s pooch is around, ready to provide some rascally companionship because some of these pups have pretty busy schedules… (you know, what with Hollywood auditions and stuff). And, if you want to know how dog friendly Healdsburg is, or which hotels are dog friendly, we’ve got you covered.
Healdsburg’s Top 5 Pet Friendly Wineries and Tasting Rooms
1. Blanchard Family Wines
Starting in town, you’ll be greeted by Sweet Pea at Blanchard Family Wines. Sweet Pea is a recent Christmas Puppy for the Blanchard children, who’s already working his way into the family business. “Sweet Pea has a lot of potential. I see him checking out our barrels of wine all the time. I think he wants to start hosting some of our barrel tastings”, says owner Mark Blanchard. (with daughter Sparrow below)

Sweet Pea will be hosting exclusive barrel tastings of Viognier, Malbec, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Dessert Wine… as soon as he’s big enough to see the top of a barrel.

2. Amista Vineyards
Dylan and Torin are the tail-waggin’ tag-team tandem you’ll be greeted by at Amista Vineyards in Dry Creek Valley. They love to meet new four-legged friends and do a little frisby-chewin’ together after giving new puppy pals a brisk tour of the vineyard. Fun and frisky, that’s just how they roll (in the grass). They’ll even share a bowl of this year’s finest agua fresco with your little buddy while you and your friends stroll through the vineyard or relax with a glass of beautiful sparking or Rhône wine. These are some of the finest wines you can get your paws on here in Healdsburg wine country.

Surround yourself with lovely vineyard views and lots of puppy love as you enjoy Sparkling varietals of Blanc de Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, and Mataró wines. Or, if you prefer non-sparkling wines, savor some their Clairette Blanche, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Rosé varietals.

3. Merriam Vineyards
“Yogi” has a special place among Healdsburg’s best winery dogs – and he’s got the posse to prove it! You’ll rarely find him without his entourage of pals and adoring fans racing to try and keep up with him. And we do mean ‘keep up with him’. That’s because there’s so much room to roam and romp around Meriam Vineyards’ open-air wine tasting setting. There’s even a lovely spacious path between vineyards you can drift into, wine glass in hand, while your best little buddy playfully gallops and frolics with Yogi and his canine crew. Rest assured, your furry friend will fit right in, as Yogi’s among the most accommodating winery hosts you’ll ever meet (he even shares his treats).

“Yogi’s a rare mix of gentle family dog, constant companion, and frisky pup. He’s fond of children and loved by all”, says his owner Evan, whose heart is to make Merriam the most family friendly and dog friendly winery in Healdsburg.
Yogi’s always onsite, overseeing winemaking and ensuring each of Merriam’s varietals is always a taster’s best friend. At Merriam, you’ll discover exceptional Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and blended red wines.

4. Thomas George Estates
Not only is Thomas George one of Healdsburg’s most intimately beautiful wineries, getting there brings with it a charming country cruise adorned with magnificent vineyard views, all woven along Healdsburg’s lovely West Side Road. At TGE you’ll discover a beautifully shaded reserve terrace setting, two wine caves, and of course… Zoe, the winery’s wonder dog.
Zoe is an old hand in the wonders of wineries, as she’s been a faithful companion to her jovial owner Larry while they sojourn around Sonoma County’s vineyards and valleys. Zoe dashes to greet guests and loves escorting you around to help decide which spot is best to enjoy some delightful wines. Zoe’s zeal and frisky friendliness reflect the warmth you’ll come to know at Thomas George Estates.

Thomas George serves an exceptional selection of Pinot Noir, Grenache Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Rosé, Grenache Dessert Wine, and Sparkling varietals.

5. Trione Vineyards
Mossy is one of the first winery dogs my wife and I ever met. We strolled into Trione’s beautiful Alexander Valley estate in 2019, and as soon as we entered their elegant tasting room, Mossy trotted over and instantly adopted my bride. He was so happy to meet her and started kissing her like a long-lost friend as soon as she knelt to pet him. I wasn’t sure he was gonna let me have her back.
Little has changed, as Mossy is as much a part of Trione’s staff as a pup can be. He loves to hang out with guests at the bocci ball court or relax alongside as they sip wine while listening to the gentle gurgle of the terrace fountain.

When you bring your furry friend to Trione, you’ll find a lovely wide path that almost wraps around a front portion of their vineyard, so you and your happy hound can have a nice stroll together. And, as elegant as Trione’s tasting room is, dogs are always welcome inside – which is especially nice on those dog days of Summer when a cool drink and puppy treats are a dog’s best friend.
Trione serves a lovely array of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Primitivo, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sparkling Brut, and blended varietals.
