Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve
Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve is located just a 5 minute drive north from downtown. It’s a great option for hiking in Healdsburg. This park has nearly 3 miles of intermediate hiking and easy walking trails. It has beautiful views of marshlands, forestry, pastures and chaparral to enjoy.. Stunning scenery of Fitch Mountain, the Mayacama Mountains, and our Russian River unfold on these trails.
A perfect morning hike before visiting Healdsburg’s wineries and vineyards
A fun, fairly easy hiking experience. There are no specific picnic areas. However, you can always find a patch of grass on the far side of Froggy Pond where you can rest and picnic away. Get your printable “Healdsburg Hiking Guide” with maps, helpful tips and more.
DIRECTIONS: Take Healdsburg Avenue north out of town. Turn right at Parkland Farms Blvd. Go to the end. Turn right at Bridle Path. Park along the street (be respectful of our neighbors’ driveways). Trail head is to your left (east of the Arabian Way intersection). Walk towards that dead end and turn right (up a slight incline). You’ll quickly see the signs marking the beginning of your journey. Be safe, and have a great time. Remember… hand holding is highly recommended.
NOTE: Dogs are allowed on a leash. There are no restroom facilities. Bring some water with you. And a blanket is a good idea if you plan on laying back and relaxing next to Froggie Pond.

Froggy Pond from the quaint little bridge that spans its western edge. Once you cross the bridge turn right you’ll find space along its banks for a quiet respite together.
Trails are easy to moderate and fairly well shaded. A nice climb on your way up to wonderful views of the Fitch and Mayacama Mountains and our picturesque Russian River.
Once you’ve reached the Russian River overview you’ll find a nice well-shaded bench to sit and see mountain vistas and rolling landscape… a beautiful site, even in autumn.
